Maison Margiela

Maison Margiela is a fashion house founded in 1988 by Belgian designer Martin Margiela. The Paris-based house is synonymous with uniquely unconventional principles, and a philosophy in which deconstruction and heritage go hand in hand to create designs that showcase fashion as an art of meaning rather than a cult of personality. Maison Margiela became part of OTB in 2002. The house crosses the fashion spectrum from its ‘Artisanal’ collection, which has held the “Haute Couture” appellation since 2012, through ready-to-wear and accessories. Glenn Martens was named Creative Director of Maison Margiela in 2025. He is the third designer to hold the role at the Maison, following John Galliano’s decade-long term from 2014 to 2024. A Belgian-born graduate of Antwerp’s prestigious Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Martens was recruited to Jean Paul Gaultier’s atelier during his final year of study in 2008. At Y/Project he cultivated an influential aesthetic defined by the interplay of denim, streetwear, and couture-inspired techniques. In 2020, Martens was appointed Creative Director of Diesel, where he is credited with re-invigorating OTB’s original brand with a vision for a new generation. Martens continues to helm Diesel alongside Maison Margiela.
